Putting the ‘Grand’ into Grand Touring, the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT takes middleweight sport touring to a new level. This tech laden all-rounder comes dripping with Yamaha’s sporting DNA, while proving a faithful companion with which to take on longer rides. As much at home on the twisties as it is the open road, the latest generation of this hugely popular model is the most polished yet.

Yamaha’s sporting heritage runs throughout the Tracer 9 GT, with the Deltabox frame and fully adjustable electronic suspension combining to create a motorcycle without compromise when you want to push hard on your favourite road. With its integrated riding modes and six-axis IMU controlled lean-sensitive rider aids, the Tracer 9 GT brings new levels of sophistication to the middleweight sports touring category. Yamaha’s third-generation quickshifter comes equipped as standard, allowing riders to effortlessly access the CP3 engine’s meaty mid-range.

Tracer 9 GT is driven by Yamaha’s highly acclaimed 890cc CP3 engine that produces strong, linear torque, making this Sport Tourer a remarkable performer whether touring through the Snowies or commuting to the office. Equipped with Yamaha’s Acceleration Position Sensor Grip (APSG) and Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T), this lightweight system eliminates the need for cables and pulleys and delivers superb response with a natural feeling.

The 7” TFT incorporates three themes and comes with Garmin LinkBox connectivity to provide integrated navigation, while calls, messages and music can be received through the Yamaha MyRide App and controlled using the five-way joystick on the left hand switch cube. Tracer 9 GT offers a highly customizable riding experience thanks to Yamaha Ride Control (YRC). This allows the rider to tailor their ride to match conditions and preferences. Three factory settings come preloaded (SPORT, STREET and RAIN) while two custom maps can be programmed through the dashboard menu or using the MyRide app, helping the rider choose their preferred engine power characteristics and electronic interventions.

Developed especially for the Tracer 9 GT, KYB’s KADS (KYB Actimatic Damper System) electronic suspension is the most advanced system found on any Yamaha production motorcycle. Governed by the six-axis IMU and ECU, the adjustable units are linked to the YRC mode and dynamically adjust damping to deliver an optimal riding experience in a variety of load and road conditions.

Smart Key Technology with Central Locking

Yamaha’s Smart Key System allows you to fire up the Tracer 9 GT without a physical ignition key. The key fob operates while in proximity of the bike and allows the central locking and unlocking of all functions, including the steering lock, fuel cap and the standard hard side cases, which remain secure whenever the smart key is out of range. When fitted, Yamaha’s genuine accessory top box also operates in the same way.

With a long subframe, Tracer 9 GT provides more space for both the rider and their passenger. Combined with flat generously padded seat, and a optimised handlebar position, these allow for a more relaxed posture and increased comfort, particularly on longer journeys. The Tracer 9 GT is more accessible at standstill too, with a slim saddle shape at the standover point.

Confirming the Tracer 9 GT’s mile munching capabilities, the standard fitment of cruise control allows the rider to cruise the highways in comfort. Engageable from third gear, the cruise control can be adjusted in increments of 1km/h or 10km/h. A speed limiter function is also fitted, for times when the rider just doesn’t want to creep over the limit!

The Tracer 9 GT features integrated heated handlebar grips, which offer 10 levels of warmth and the ability to be easily user programmed to three preset settings. These grips are optimised to deliver quick warmup and a uniform distribution of heat and can work in conjunction with the heated rider seat, which is available as a genuine Yamaha accessory.

The Tracer 9 GT comes with Yamaha’s third generation quickshifter system. Working in conjunction with the YRC ride modes, the shifter facilitates clutchless upshifts and auto-blip assisted changes down the gearbox with a wider operating range than before.
