FEATURES

MotoGP Inspired Winglets

MotoGP Inspired Winglets

Developed through extensive simulator and on-track testing, MotoGP-inspired carbon fibre winglets create additional downforce for exceptional chassis stability and added front-end feel when braking or cornering.

Quick Shift System

Quick Shift System

The YZF-R1 also comes equipped with a Quick Shift System that gives faster gear changing. This system instantly cancels drive torque when an upshift is detected - enabling full throttle clutchless upshifts for outstanding acceleration through the close ratio 6-speed transmission.

998cc CP4 Engine

998cc CP4 Engine

Developed using M1 MotoGP technology, the 998cc engine features Bosch injectors that deliver a wide spray angle for increased efficiency. Specially designed finger-follower rocker arms and cam lobes give outstanding high rpm performance – and this EU5 crossplane engine also features a high efficiency lubrication system for optimum performance.

Iconic 70th Anniversary Styling

Iconic 70th Anniversary Styling

Celebrate seven decades of motorsports excellence with the 2026 YZF-R1 70th Anniversary Edition. Throwback white and red speed block livery, gold Yamaha Tuning Fork emblems, and  Anniversary Edition badge combine with the R1's sleek, modern R-Series design to commemorate the 1955 birth of Yamaha Motor Company in standout style.

Brake Control System

Brake Control System

Technology is transforming the way we ride, and the YZF-R1 features no fewer than seven electronic control systems. Featuring two modes, the Brake Control (BC) system analyses data such as lean angle and slipping acceleration and modulates hydraulic brake pressure to prevent wheel lock ups.

Brembo Brakes

Brembo Brakes

The YZF-R1 features new radial-mounted Brembo Stylema monobloc front calipers riding on big 320mm rotors for excellent stopping power, supported by a 220mm rear disc with a compact floating caliper. High-quality braided stainless steel front lines, high-friction pad compound and new Brembo master cylinder complete the package, providing exceptional control and feel.

High-spec KYB Suspension

High-spec KYB Suspension

The exceptional KYB front fork is designed to offer excellent response, road feel and front-end performance. Individual adjusters on the right and left fork tubes offer a full range of adjustability including preload, high- and low-speed compression and rebound adjustments for precise damping control.

6-Axis IMU

6-Axis IMU

The 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) consists of a gyro sensor (angular velocity sensor) that constantly measures machine pitch, roll and yaw, and a G-sensor (accelerometer) that measures acceleration in the forward-backward, up-down and right-left directions. This technology makes possible the class-leading array of rider aids includes lean sensitive Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS) as well as a front wheel lift control system (LIF) and Brake Control system (BC).

Accelerator Position Sensor

Accelerator Position Sensor

The Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) is activated by a high-tech twist grip assembly that gives a natural feeling for precise control. Featuring a spring, slider and gear that give a smooth and progressive feel, the lightweight ride-by-wire APSG (Accelerator Position Sensor Grip) twist grip gives instant throttle response.

LED Headlights

LED Headlights

LED headlights are both lightweight and compact, allowing for a more streamlined design of the front cowling with excellent visibility. The lights deliver a broad spread of illumination. LED front turn signals are integrated into the mirrors for improved aerodynamics while the LED tail light is stylish and highly visible.
